Back in 2014, I was sitting in a random food court one day, people watching. I thought to myself, why don’t I have the option to connect with these people in this same food court as me? I then asked myself, when would a product like this come in handy?
- I would use it to connect with new people at the same bar/party I’m at.
- I would use it if I was at a sporting event.
- I would use it to connect with new people in general.
There were a bunch of ideas running through my head on how this could be used, so I started building my idea and I named it Clava.
The main goal throughout this whole process was to never to create something that you needed to have a following to use, we wanted to create a platform that focused on a user's location instead and would help that user connect with locals around them and to discover things to do in their local community.
Little did I know the startup I had built would have the potential to help tons of people during #COVID-19 and would also give the opportunity for a lot of people to help fight against this virus as well.
